BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, BACKUP EVERYTHING.. BECAUSE FLASHING WILL WIPE ALL USER DATA [It will not format the memory card]

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT IT COULD CAUSE TO YOUR PHONE,. AND DO IT IN YOUR OWN RISK...

IF YOU WANT A BIT MORE EXPLAINED TUTORIAL, YOU BETTER READ
http://www.teq2day.com/2012/11/how-to-unbrick-your-xperia-device.html
That post is about unbricking, but the whole process is same... :-)

OK,.. Let's start..

1. Install the flashtool.. [ Normally it will be installed on the C drive]
2. In your phone settings tick "unknown sources" and Enable USB debugging [in ICS, goto Settings >> development options]
3. Place the ftf file in C:\Flashtool\firmwares
4. Connect your phone and open flashtool,..check whether your device is detected or not.. If your device is not detecting, goto  C:\Flashtool\drivers   and open the exe file and install the drivers for your phone..
5. If your phone is detected, you can start the main process... DISCONNECT THE PHONE FROM PC
6. Open flashtool and click on the first ICON [the thunderbolt symbol] and choose flashmode..
7. Now you will get a window like below... Choose your ftf file to flash.. And press ok..

8. In the main window it will show you the process going on,...
9. Wait a few second and you will get a window like below..
10. Now turn-off your phone and connect one end of the usb cable to your phone,..
The flashtool will ask you to connect your phone in flash mode... There is a specific key for each device,...[ to find out the key, read below] and For live with walkman, the key is "volume DOWN"

back button:-
x8, x10, x10 mini, x10 mini pro, play, arc, arc s, neo, neo v, pro

Volume down button:-
mini, mini pro, ray, active, live with walkman, S, P, U, sola

THE ABOVE ARE THE SPECIFIC KEY FOR EACH DEVICE TO ENTER FLASH MODE,..

11. Press and hold the volume down key[for live with walkman] and connect the usb cable to your PC... Keep holding the key until flashtool says to release the key... The flashing has been started,... Wait till the flashing become 100%.. After that flashtool will say that the flashing is completed,.. Then you can restart your phone...

Please note that, the first boot may take a bit more time,... If your phone is booted up and stuck at the sony ericsson logo, don't freakout and say: oh! i bricked my phone.... !!! wait a few more minutes and it will boot up..... If anything goes wrong, repeat the whole process,.. Once your phone is booted up, tada.... you have your Gingerbread [or whatever you were flashing]....
